It’s a shame that in today’s world, we still have coaches like Jon Gruden in the NFL, who are racist and homophobic. All of the emails that Gruden sent will not only ruin his career but also his image. I believe that the NFL made the ethical decision to let him go in an effort to keep hate out of the game. When it comes to sports, minorities have to go through extra efforts to receive equal treatment. Athletes in the LGBTQ+ community are limited in sports today due to coaches like Gruden. To be a coach, you have to have leadership and respect for your players and keep hate out of the game. It’s clear to see how Gruden feels about players of color OR if any members of the Raiders were to come out as being gay. In the end, it’s nice to see that Gruden apologized for the emails but that doesn’t excuse him from the actions of this mess. Gruden was in the middle of a 10-year contract, getting paid 100 million dollars until he decided to use derogatory language. I believe he doesn’t deserve to make that much money again or get another opportunity at coaching.
